So, I’ve come to the conclusion that working a full-time job (which includes a 2½ hour round-trip commute), dealing with the loss of a beloved pet, preparing for Gus to graduate high school, and blogging three to four nights a week has all become a bit overwhelming for Lulu. Something has gotta give, y’all!
And because I have to keep my regular full-time gig so that I can pay the mortgage, and because there’s nothing that I can do about bringing back my little Abagail, and because Gus will indeed graduate, I’m just going to have to cut back on the blogging for a short while. At least until the middle of June. Maybe then I can breathe a little easier. Until then, I will post when I can—hopefully once a week.
And even though it’s a day early for a Thursday Thirteen, I am posting a list of 13 things that I have planned to do through June 16.
1. Make a picture video of Gus to show at his graduation party. The party is on June 2, so I only have like 2 weeks to pull this thing together. I’m thinking a poster-board collage sounds pretty good at this point.
2. Prepare for and participate in the neighborhood garage sale this Saturday. I must be nuts. Every time I have one of these things, I swear that I never will again. I might just throw everything on the lawn with a sign that says PLEASE TAKE MY STUFF.
3. Attend Gus’s graduation. I’ve scheduled a full vacation day for this even though the graduation is not until 7:00pm. Because not only do I have to attend graduation…
4. I also have a myriad of doctor’s appointments earlier that day.
5. Run a 5K on Memorial Day. Oh, I must mention that I ran my first 5K race (Race for the Cure) this past Saturday with Big H, Phoo, Big H’s parents, and my friend and co-worker Deb. I finished in 39 minutes. I’m convinced that I could have walked it faster than I ran it. And here’s a picture of Phoo, Big H, and me before the race looking just lovely…
6. Clean house in preparation for Gus’s graduation party. I’ve decided to have Gus’s graduation party at the house. At first I thought it would be easier to do it here, but maybe not so much. Now I have to scrub toilets.
7. Pick up my mother from the airport because she is flying here from Tampa to help me prepare for and attend the graduation party, and then I must return her to the airport after a whirlwind weekend. Wait. That didn’t sound right. She’s not helping me attend (although at this point, I’m not so sure)—she’s helping me prepare and she is attending.
8. Prepare myself and Gus for the cruise. I’m not sure what this entails, but I think it means something. Maybe packing? I am also thinking of getting this bathing suit to wear on the boat…
Nice and flirty, right? GR is totally into it. Especially since I’m going on this cruise without him.
9. Drive 8 hours to Tampa to get to the cruise ship. The price of gasoline will probably be in the $3.50/gallon range by then. I’ll be paying more for gas to get to Tampa and back than I actually paid for the cruise.
10. Cruise for 5 nights. This is my first cruise, and I have high expectations. They better serve Corona Light on the boat is all I can say. And hot-buttered bread.
11. Spend 2 extra nights in Tampa at my mom’s after the cruise. GR is driving down a day or so before the boat docks in Tampa to hang out with mom’s husband, and we’ll stay until Saturday.
12. Drive 8 hours back home from Tampa. Two cars x $3.50/gallon for gas x 450 miles each way = peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a month.
13. Possibly get a puppy. Yes, we’re getting a puppy from the same breeder that Abby came from. However, the timing is kind of up in the air right now. The breeder has a litter of puppies that was born on April 30, and they have the same father as Abby. There are five girls to choose from. However, GR is unsure if he’s ready for a puppy so soon after Abby’s death. He wants to wait until the Fall. I do not. The puppies will not be ready to go to their homes until the last week of June, so he still has a couple of weeks to think about it.
Here’s a picture of the girls in the litter (there’s also two boys not shown). The breeder will send me face shots in a couple more weeks. Aren’t they sweet?
So, as you can see, I’m busy, y’all! And as mentioned, I’ll post once a week until mid- to late-June, and then I’ll start back on my regular schedule. Just think of it as Lulu’s season finale.

SHEW! You do have a lot going on. Wish we could make it to the grad party but apparently we’re booked. Bummer! To answer your question, yes, they do serve Corona Light on cruise ships and the bread is served every night at dinner. Course, I’m sure you could request some if you wanted it during the day while you’re laying by the pool…works well to soak up the booze. Just remember, watch your step on the pool deck. The rocking of the boat, a wet deck and intoxication don’t do much for balance or the safety of the slice of pizza you are carrying at the time.
Congrats on running your first 5K. I ran my first one last year and came in at 38 + minutes (probably nearly 39). I know it’s slow by some standards, but I was so proud of myself for running the entire 3.2 miles.
Want to be my new running buddy? I need someone to run with.
I think i would like to get that bathingsuit. Do they sell it at wal-mart??
Oh. My. I burst out laughing when I saw that suit, Lulu. Lulu in a mumu!
You are a busy gal. Good luck with everything; you will need that cruise vacation. What were you thinking about doing a garage sale? I did one once and still can’t get past the woman who wanted to pay me 25 cents for a very pretty, excellent shape handknit cardigan that probably was $70-80 to start. I was asking for a whopping $5 or 10, if I recall. Rather than tell her to stuff it where no one would find the quarter again, I smiled and said, “No. I’ll donate it to charity.”
Now I donate most things, or consign. I am tempted each year to participate in our neighborhood sale, but remembered the cardigan…
Phoo: Sorry y’all can’t make it to the grad party! Oh well, we’ll have you over for GRs famous hot wings soon. And don’t worry—I’ll guard the pizza with my LIFE!
Jennifer: Put on your running shoes!
Jessica: I’m quite sure you can find a bathing suit like that somewhere in Ohio or Pennsylvania.
Susan: Lulu in a Mumu would be a great post title! I’ll have to think about that one when I show pictures from the cruise.
Posts like this always make me appreciate my quiet and boring life a bit more. ;o)
Hope you’ll be having a great time on the cruise!
And, hey, 39 minutes for 5 kilometres sound pretty good to me. I couldn’t run that far in any amount of time. At least you reached the finishing line, and that’s what counts (so I’ve been told).
Thanks for stopping by my site.

Meatloat isn’t my favorite dish – but I’ll eat it sometimes. I can’t cook it, cuz hubby doesn’t like it at all. This one looks quite good – the topping looks yummy on it.
nice work, dude
