For the Love of Saturday. And Somethin’ Shiny!

Happy Saturday, y’all!  It’s Saturday Photo Hunters day!  And today’s theme?  Is Shiny!

Wow, it’s been a little over a month since I’ve had time to do one of these.  So, to get back to my travel theme, here’s my Saturday photo…

King Henry VIII armor

This is the shiny armour of King Henry VIII from about 1515.  It is on display as part of the Royal Armouries at the Tower of London.  It’s pretty darn impressive if you ask me.  Imagine having to suit up in that piece of equipment.  Sucks to be a king, huh?

Here’s another shiny photo of the plaque at the entrance to the Tower of London…

Have a great weekend, y’all!

Great photo. Aren’t you always amazed at how small these people must have been then? And they had to stagger around with all this weight on them, not to mention the poor horses.

The king’s armor has certainly been kept nicely all these years. I wonder how much polish they go through in a year to shine it up so brightly…. What metal was it made from?

I can’t imagine how they ever survived wearing that armor. But I really wonder how the horses did: they were not given any choices. Poor things. Love this post because it takes me to new places.

I see Karen beat me to the punch, but I too thought this might be the newest in protective swimwear. No UV rays getting through that sucker. (And no white thighs showing either.)

Throw your socks in the wash!
