I’m not a big fan of your mailbox either. At first I was going to say it was cute, but after reading your list, I know better.

We have those community mailboxes like apartment complexes. The only plus of ours over yours is we have an outgoing mail slot (if you piece of mail is small enough to fit in it…)

I think you could tip off the local news hounds or bring in Michael Moore and he’ll do a documentary/expose about the tyranny of HOAs.

$300 is RIDICULOUS; what are these people thinking? And no outgoing mail? Even though I know you’re not supposed to put it in UNLOCKED mailboxes, your mailbox has solved this problem! Why not just get a group discount on PO boxes down at the local post office?

I still can’t believe that it is a) mandatory and b) that expensive!!! I would be ruined by now since the kids throw firecrackers inside them the week of the St John’s (June 23rd) celebrations, that’s why we leave ours open and can’t lock it anymore…
I love e-mail (except for spam, oh well)

I hate getting my mail too. And my mailbox has a lock on it as well, but it’s the kind that’s on my house, and all you have to do is lift it off of the bracket.

I hate few things in life. This strong passionate emotion is reserved as a response against violence, environmental destruction,intolerance, racism and home owners associations!!!
This is just ridiculous, why are they so attached to THIS mailbox. I can barely wrap my mind about a conformity of design but function should always come before form.

I think this must have been the most hilarious post I have read this week.
These HOA guys seem to be a reason to move to another city if you ask me. Gosh, I thought it was bad here in Germany with all the damn regulations for every crap, but it seems “the land of the free” is not much better in this regard. That’s a consolation to me, but scarcely to you, I guess.
But I really feel for you, because that mailbox thingy is one of the ugliest I’ve seen in a while. LOL

Lulu, you’re hysterical! I will never look at your mailbox the same way again! I just about wet myself imagining GR duct taping and justifying his duct taping of said mailbox! I love it!

Pussreboots – I’m thinking of starting a petition. Or a revolution…

Your future campaign manager – thanks for the offer! I’m thinking of using the mailbox in #13 as my party’s symbol. But, I’m pretty sure it’s taken already…

Mom not mum – I like the idea of a community mailbox. As long as someone else in the community takes my bills and pays them….

Christine – they’re pretty obsessed…to the point where certain HOA members scan the neighborhood daily looking for infractions.

MommyBa – I believe in pretty mailboxes as well! Just not the one that we have… I would love to read your post about mailboxes.
