It’s a Christmas in July Giveaway!

Did you know that there’s only 158 days until Christmas?  Sheesh.  You better start your shopping now, people.  Avoid the crowds.  Or just tune into the Quacker Factory’s Christmas in July sale on QVC.  Not that I would know anything about that…

Anyhow, if you visited here yesterday, you know that I’m throwing a little Christmas in July party for myself.  And you’re invited.  Because I like you, and I want to give you a present!  Let me explain…

A few weeks ago, I missed out on the opportunity to participate in Buy A Friend A Book Week.  If you aren’t familiar with Buy A Friend a Book Week, it’s merely the opportunity to buy a friend a book for no good reason.  Just because.  For the long version, go here.  So, because I missed the official BAFABW, I thought that I would just buy a friend a book this week.  It’s my party, I can do what I want.  And I want to give someone a book.

So, if you leave a comment on this post and tell me the name of your favorite book, I will put your name into a random drawing to receive your choice of a book (up to a $20 value) from Amazon.com.  And if you would like to go into detail about why it’s your favorite book, then that would be jolly good fun, too.  Oh, and you don’t even have to be a blogger to join in on the fun!  I’m going on vacation next week, so I’ll leave the contest open until Friday, July 27 at midnight EST.

And if the winner doesn’t want the book, then I can always give away my husband’s truck…

GRs Truck

It’s a beauty, right?  It even comes with an AM radio and a handmade wooden cup holder.  However, I can’t guarantee that the heat or air conditioner will work.

Oh, and one more thing!  I have to show you the preeeetty, shiny Christmas in July present I bought for myself…

Lulu’s Laptop

See?  Preeetty!  Shiny!  Hmm…I think that I need the Nikon D80 to go along with it.  (Just kidding, Sophie!)

Book I really want? Ok, so I’m almost 28 but I’m not ashamed to admit that I’d like to have Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood by Ann Brashares. Have you read the traveling pants books? They are so great! I have the other 3 if you want to borrow them…even Mama Claire loves them!

I can’t possibly choose a favourite book. I love too many of them. So I’m going to tell you what my favourite book used to be when I was a little kid and hope that that’s good enough: “Where is the Bear?” by Betty Hubka was my favourite book back then.

Have you ever read the BOOK version of A Princess Bride? You know how they always say that book versions are always better than movie versions. Its true even here. Before the movie came out, we had to read this back in high school. We all kept failing the pop-quizes to see if we had read the assigned two chapters (questions like “what color was Humperdink’s shirt?) because what the teacher didnt know was that we were all like 14 chapters ahead of the assigned reading, it was so good!

Thanks for the chance to win!
