Whoever Said Money and Cinnamon Rolls Can’t Buy Happiness?

Okay, so I’m all refreshed, recharged, and a bit more rested now.  It’s just that sometimes I get so overwhelmed with all that I try to do, and I have to figure out where I can steal some breathing room.  Writing in this blog was on the top of the list.  Its exhausting work trying to keep this thing going, y’all!  But most days it can be a barrel of monkeys (even though it sometimes cuts into my time with Maksim Chmerkovskiy), so I just keep chugging along.

Enough of my whining already, let’s talk about something near and dear to my heart—shopping!  And cinnamon rolls.

On Saturday, I kidnapped my neighbor, Rach, and we made the trek to the other side of the world to IKEA.  And what an interesting and confusing shopping establishment that is, y’all.  It’s like a huge maze of furniture and home décor and wonderful little Swedish whatnots.  And by the time that you make it through the maze and have drooled over just about everything that you think is humanly possible?  You would be wrong.

Because all roads in that maze lead to the cinnamon roll stand, my peeps.  And because I was just plain crazy and left my camera at home, you’ll just have to trust me that the cinnamon rolls looked something like these hot, gooey delights…

Cinnamon Roll dream

And I would venture to say that the rolls were the highlight of my trip.  Well, that and these…

IKEA cookies

…which I bought in a fit of low blood sugar and sheer hunger while suffering the smell of cinnamon rolls that wafted through the building the entire two hours that we were shopping.  Is the smell of cinnamon rolls supposed to make for a better shopping experience or something?  Because all that it did for me was make me want to run through IKEA shoving small children and old people aside to get to the freaking cinnamon roll stand.

And I also bought 10 of these little candle holders (for .29 cents each) along with these colorful candles that I will be using at my Halloween extravaganza (2nd note to self: must start planning extravaganza)…

IKEA candles

I think that I showed great restraint in not buying anything more.

And that’s a good thing because on Monday?  I bought these little beauties:

 Mary Jane’s

Kind of a mixture of Mary Jane’s and clogs.  And they are oh so comfortable!  Fortunately, they smell nothing like cinnamon rolls.

Never been to an Ikea but totally understand the lure of the fresh baked cinnamon roll - and coffee - more coffee than cinnamon roll for me- but would definately do the roll too. Do they have good coffee? ANYWAY love those shoes - it is all about the mary janes isn’t it?

Betty - I’m totally with you on the coffee. However, when it comes to cinnamon rolls, I have a one-track mind. I’m surprised that I can remember anything that IKEA sells, let alone if they serve coffee.

Tbell - I TOTALLY remember those shoes! See, I just knew that you were a fashionista…always one-step ahead of the trend! Just one of the many reasons why I need you to come back…

Those shoes are sooo cute. Where did you get them??

As for cinnamon rolls, nothing smells better. But I’m not a big fan of the actual eating of the cinnamon rolls. I’m weird. I know.

But shoes are fat free! :-)

I think your friend Rach really needs to be a better friend while shopping at Ikea. If I had taken you to Ikea, we would have required a truck or minivan for the trip, and there’s no way this post would contain one little photo of tealight candle holders.

That’s just wrong.

MQ - I got the shoes at Belk. AND through tomorrow, if you shop there and give $1 to the Susan G. Komen cancer fund, you get a coupon for 20% off your purchase. So, not only were the shoes on sale, I got an additional 20% off! It was for a good cause…

Kelly - eating a cinnamon roll is eating better! That is, better tasting than say a bran muffin.

Leanne - yeah, it is kind of hard to believe that a person goes to IKEA only to buy tealight candles. But, the SHOES! I had to save my money for the shoes…

Big H - how about we just move the Halloween extravaganza to IKEA? We can party on their furniture. leave stains on their carpets, and eat their cinnamon rolls. I’ll have to contact someone…

I love cinnimon. Because I TRY to eat good and am trying to lose weight what I’ve been doing every morning is making regular plain instant oatmeal then adding a packet of sweet n low then I bring to my office, open the drawer and dump a load of cinnimon in it..way less calories than the low calorie sweetened kind.
BUT…I have to tell you I even like the Pillsbury Doughboy cinnimon roles… or Auntie Ann’s cinnimon pretzels…
Thank GOD I just ate my oatmeal and am drinking coffee right now or I’d be gnawing on my monitor.
LOVE the shoes, they are SO ME!! My birthday is November 10th if you want to send me a pair. 7 1/2 please ..black or brown..or one of each is fine.

I can totally see why you might be disappointed to not get enough time with Maksim. He’s hot. I’d like to dance with him. And yes, I like cinnamin rolls too, but I’d rather burn calories with Maksim…

Yuuummmm. Now I have to have a cinnamon roll *drool*

Okay, maybe this is becoming overly mentally consuming, but I have to add that I recently bought some cinnamin roll flavored coffee at my grocery store, and it was a huge let down. I guess I thought i was going to be drinking a cup of cinnabon-flavored coffee, but it was nothing of the sort. I’m hungry.

Have you tried the Cinnabon-flavored popcorn? http://www.amazon.com/Orville-Redenbacher-Cinnabon-Gourmet-Microwave/dp/B000I63M1K
It’s a shame it’s not for sale on Amazon or I’d just flat-out buy a case. It’s very hard to find, and whenever I DO find it at a grocery store, I buy everything on the shelf. This stuff is DE-licious!!!

Okay, i’m taking my cinnnamin-flavored comments and going back to work now….

NOOOOOOOO! additional research shows the delicous Cinnabon-flavored popcorn has been discontinued! I am heartborken. popcorn will never be the same again.

Brandy - sorry about the cinnamon popcorn. BUT, you could alway pop your own and sprinking cinnamon sugar over the top, eh? Probably not the same…
