Just call me the little engine that could, y’all. Well, actually the little engine that did. Since Wednesday, I’ve been chuggin’ along like a freaking freight train, and I soooo WISH that I could learn to slow down and be more like this:
However, I am a total Type A personality. I’ve been running around town like a tuned-up monkey riding trains, visiting family, preparing for and coordinating a redonkulous Halloween party, and making jaunts to the airport. All that I can say is thank God that Maksim Chmerkovskiy is on my television tonight. I need the break. But despite everything, I’ve had a great time these past few days! Really! I have…
To start with, I can cross two more items off of my list of 13-places-that-I-must-visit-before-the-end-of-the-year-unless-it-kills-me-first. Only 8 more to go, y’all!
On Thursday, my mom, sister, niece, cousin, and I boarded the Blue Ridge Scenic Railwayfor a trip along the Toccoa River with a stop in Copperhill, Tennessee. But before we even made it to train depot, we made a stop at Burt’s Pumpkin Farm for a little bit of pumpkin action…
And after scarfing down pumpkin pie at 9:00am, we waddled on up to Blue Ridge to ride the party train…
And here’s the big honkin’ barrel of party monkeys…
Actually, the real barrel of party primates consisted of a group of women sitting a couple of rows behind us who all looked to be closing in on the age of 103 (or maybe 70…I’m not so good with ages). These ladies were having the time of their lives—laughing and guffawing and making jokes. And possibly sipping the sauce. And do you want to know what the young Lulu was doing while these elderly women were cackling up a storm? Take one guess…
Shut up. If I hadn’t been up until 2:00am the night before writing my last Thursday Thirteen, then I might have been drinking laughing and guffawing with all of the old geysers funny ladies. However, when I wasn’t napping, I was having my own little party snapping pictures of the scenery…
And when we got to Copperhill, we scoped out the small town, did a little bit of shopping, ate lunch, and mingled with the locals…
And a fun time was had by all! But only after we stopped in Ellijay on our journey home to fill our bellies with some of these tasty treats…
Have a fun and safe Halloween, y’all!
Check back on Thursday for my Halloween Extravaganza recap. Oh, c’mon! Lulu knows that you’re not at all slightly interested…

How fun! I would love to take a trip on a train. Especially if I could hit the sauce at the same time.
Oh lawd! That “come on ride the train” caption brought back a very embarrassing memory!
BTW, I like the brown color. Do you?
Love the hair!
Looks like a lot of fun! I love riding trains, especially to someplace fun! Glad you had a good time!
Geeze there you go again w/ the food. Now I feel the need to have an Apple Fritter..w/out an idea where one would go to get one..
I wanna ride the train..whoo hoo..yeah, I sang it with you earlier. I was down wit it.
Love the hair. Your mom is a hottie!!
I think it’s the motion of the train that put your to sleep. Happens to me all the time in the car. Looks like you had a great time!
Leandra – the brown hair is growing on me. It’s actually lightened up a bit since last week. I’m sure that in 5 more weeks I will try yet another color…
Friglet – unfortunately, Coronas nor Amaretto Sours were not being distributed on the train. Next time, I’ll bring my own…
Christie – the brown hair is definitely different, but it’s fairly close to my natural hair color (which I haven’t seen in years, by the way). I was just ready to get rid of the red…
MP – didn’t I say that I’m turning into an apple fritter? Luckily, my trips to north Georgia (Land of the Fritters) have come to an end for a while. It’s all celery and fat-free ranch dressing for me from now until I lose these extra 15 fritter-lovin’ pounds.
Oh – my mother totally appreciates the compliment! And now I’m going to disclose her age—61! I’m hoping that the youthful look runs in the genes…
Kailani – this happens to me, too, when riding in a car. Kind of like how it works with a small child…
Oh, I’d love to take a ride on that train! Must be a lot of beautiful scenery along the way. If I stay awake…. *giggles*
I’ve only done one train trip like that and that was in Scotland, with the original Harry Potter train – and it was a real hoot!!!!
May you have a Happy Halloween filled with scary fun!
Sorry, you’re busy, I came here to bid you Welcome to Lifecruiser Cyber Halloween Party.
