Everybody Was Kung-Fu Fighting!

Kung Fu Phoo

Confucius was obviously a wise man.

So, Saturday night was my 1st and probably last annual Chinese New Year party.  We were celebrating the Year of the Rat, and I must say that after all was said and done, I felt like a rat.  A giant sewer rat that had been doused in Amaretto Sours and soy sauce, that is.  It’s Tuesday, and I believe that I’m still feeling the effects.

Nevertheless, I believe that everybody Wang Chung’ed their tails off and enjoyed the mass amounts of crab rangoon and random fires in my backyard.  Yes, I said fires, people.  Nothing like shooting off a few fireworks in the midst of a drought.

I’m fairly disappointed that I didn’t take as many pictures as I had planned, but it was kind of difficult when Big H was making me Amaretto Sours from her own private bar in the corner of my living room.  And I was also stuffing my face with all this food:

 chinese food

And hanging out with the guests:

chinese friends

And coordinating games involving chopsticks:

And Zen gardens:

And handing out Chinese lottery tickets:

Later we had Peking Goose with a side of fried wanton.

Goose in ear

I think that there were approximately 32 people in attendance.  My mom and her husband came all the way from the Far East side of Clearwater Beach for the shindig:

Mom & D chinese

And the closest that I could get GR to dressing for the part of host was this t-shirt:

GR & Lulu chinese

Anyhow, I think that a fun time was had by everyone.  Until Lulu got egg in her hair and puked in her own backyard.  Not a very good fortune at all.

Confucius say:  Woman who fall in vat of molten egg and Amaretto Sour make spectacle of self.

Oh Lulu - I’m so sorry about those amaretto sours! I must admit though, they smelled really good! Of course, that could’ve been all the vodka that I had!

Great party - we enjoyed it immensely! Perhaps our future plans should just include a quiet night at Cheeky’s…sans goose!

P.S. I’m just shaking my head at those pictures of Phoo…

Blue is your color! You look marvelous!

Hopefully when you puked it was on one of those random fires. Confucius say “two birds one stone”.

All Adither - Sake? I think that the Amaretto Sour was enough.

MQ - the thing is, when I bought the t-shirt for him, he was like, Wha? GR is hardly a movie buff, so I had to go through the movie with him 3 times before he got it.

Big H - a quiet evening sounds very, very good right now.

Phoo - thanks for being the poster child. I just couldn’t resist the first one.

Leanne - I think that I will stay away from Chinese food for a while. In fact, there’s a distinct smell coming from my dining room floor. I think that a good mopping is in order.

Lauren - I’m so sending you an invitation next time.

Mrs. W - I made none of the food, unless you count cutting up the orange slices. Oh, and the chocolate/peanut/noodle crunchy things. I bought the rest from a local Chinese restaraunt: vege lo mein, beef and vegies, fried rice, crab rangoon, potstickers, seasame chicken, and chilled shrimp (bought from Sam’s). It definitely beat cooking for everyone!

MP - My mother and I both gladly accept your compliments in a non-lesbian non-stalker kind of way.

Tootsie - I’m thinking that I might start wearing that shirt every day.

Wow! Sounds like you guys had a fun time…up to a point!?

Can I be invited to Lulu’s next party? I promise I’ll leave the kids at home.

Jeffro - we totally missed you. The goose especially did. Glad that you had fun in, where? Indianapolis? Ugh.

AMomTwoBoys - You can come to my party, but only if you drink the Amaretto Sours and save me the awful headache.

Y’all sure do throw a fine party, I dig the pics and enjoyed chinese food better the next day. My better half and I enjoyed ourselve immensely. Cheesy feet was Kung Fu fighting

How festive. Celebrating Chinese New Year by wearing bandanas showing the flag of the Japanese navy. Y’all are very, very white.

I’m just kidding! It looks like fun! You seem to have a great group of friends. Who got in the spirit of the moment. I hate it when people don’t play along with a party theme. I had many an Academy Award party dampened by the lack of enthusiasm of attendees. Is it so hard to dress up in a tux and hang out in my living room? HUH?

Loud House Guest - Kung Fu fighting was definitely the theme of the night.

Alpha - And I suppose that you’re also going to tell me that Mr. Miyagi was from Japan. Damn it, I am white as hell.

Well, don’t get me started on how you are mistreating that innocent Canadian goose! In Canada we shoots people for mistreating Canadian geese! We do like to have our way with Bald Eagles, though.
