Y’all, my grandfather (affectionately known on this blog as The Dukester) passed away on Friday at the age of 93. I will write a proper post next week after I return from his funeral service in Florida.
For now, here’s a couple of posts that I previously wrote about my grandparents—memories that make me laugh even in the midst of such sadness.

I’m so sorry.
Oh Lulu, words are never enough to adequately express myself when I learn a friend has lost someone dear to them. Just know you have my sympathies and I will be thinking of you and your family. I’m so glad you had so many wonderful years with him!
Sending you the biggest hug in the history of hugs…

I’m happy for you and sad for you all at once. Happy that your grandfather was able to know you as a grown-up, to know your family and see the kind of woman you are… and sad because there is never a time when we feel that we can say, “Ok, I’ve had enough time with you, you can leave now…”
Take care!

Dear LuLu,
As you know, how saddened I am, too. Grandfathers are “very” special— no one can ever take their place.
It is wonderful to have had the “blessing” of a great Grandfather, which I, too experienced with my own grandfather. You will always treasure and remember all the good times, and all the closeness that you had with him. Always treasure all the memories, you will think of them for many years to come.
LOVE AND HUGS
my condolences lulu.
