I grew up in Louisiana and I can remember Charles’ Chips being sold at some of the local stores. I don’t remember them being in tins though. They were always in bags, but I don’t think the tin containers are a yankee thing only.

I had a similar Thursday Thirteen disappointment. I also have a collection of tins. Mine aren't as coordinated. A lot of them seem to be alcohol-oriented, which is because one of my best friends used to be the supervisor for the wine department of a grocery store and they never put the tins on the shelves. The weird thing is that she didn't drink for personal reasons and I can't drink for medical reasons, but for some reason with the tins and of course the boxes whenever we moved, we looked like the biggest alcoholics ever.
