Gosh, it’s been like forever and a day since I’ve done a Saturday Photo Hunt.  Yet, here I am, all caught up in it again.  For those of you who don’t know what the Saturday Photo Hunt is, just go here.  TN Chick will explain.  Basically, you post a picture each Saturday related to a theme that TN Chick picks.  Easy-peasy.

Today’s theme is spiral.  Not so easy-peasy.  At first, I thought about posting a picture of myself with a spiral perm…but then I thought better.  I’ve already taken you on Lulu’s journey of bad hair once before.  There is no need to subject you to that again.  It ain’t pretty, and I do not want to relive it.  Hence, my post involves the “somewhat” of a spiraling staircase that GR and I climbed at Amicalola Falls this past fall.

It all starts here…at the beginning of the beautiful Appalachian Trail.

After a short trek on the trail, you end up here—at this warning sign.

And then, much like my husband the health nut, you must fill your lungs with tobacco smoke and toxins to help with the strenuous walk up the 425 spiraling stairs…

And once you’ve hacked and coughed your way up the stairs…

You can take in these glorious views…

So, I was reviewing some of my previous posts and realized that I have not participated in the Saturday Photo Hunt since July 21!  Two long months ago!  The shame of it all.  I should be flogged with a camera strap. 

And of course the day that I decide to start again, I’m challenged with a theme that’s kind of difficult to get creative with—Paper.  But I’ll try.  And I’ll just keep going with my London/Paris theme that I can’t seem to get away from… 

This is a photo of my little traveling gnome (who I first introduced here) posing with a paper brochure of The Dial House Hotel.  My Aunt Patty Cake and I stopped for lunch there while visiting the quaint Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water (England) in 2006. 

Here’s a picture of the pumpkin soup that I ordered, which was served on a paper doily.  I felt all fancy-pants.

If you ever find yourself traveling through the Cotswolds of England, be sure to stop by the town of Bourton-on-the-Water.  The town is truly something out of a storybook, and the food at The Dial House is amazing.  In addition to the pumpkin soup, I highly recommend trying the bread pudding. 

I’m thinking of renting a room there for the rest of my life.  Sigh.

Woo-hoo!  It’s Saturday!  Which means it’s Photo Hunters Day, y’all!  And I know that last week, I promised (did I promise?) no more pictures of London and Paris, but again I could not resist.  And I swear that I actually have photos that do not involve London or Paris.  Obviously buried deep within the depths of my computer’s hard drive.

For now just enjoy my interpretation of today’s theme—Tiny. 

If you look reeeeaally close, you can see my tiny, friendly traveling companion standing on a barrier outside of Notre Dame.  No, it’s not the pigeon, y’all.  My traveling companion is actually a traveling gnome (he’s the one in the red hat).  And if you missed his formal introduction, you can click here to read about him.  Oh, and I must warn you—it’s exciting stuff.

Finally, Saturday is upon us, and thank goodness.  I’m completely burnt-out on a project that I’m working on at the office, and I’m ready to curl up in a ball on my sofa and watch reruns of, well, anything.  But first, I must blog.

Today is Saturday Photo Hunters day, and the theme is shadow.  And really, the first thought that came to mind when I read the theme is of my little Jack Russell Terrier, Abby, who passed away suddenly in April.  She was most definitely my little shadow. 

Here’s Abby when I first met her.  And I swear I’m not trying to choke her!  Just looks that way…

And here she is meeting our bassett hound, Billy Ray, for the first time.  He loved her so much that she could jump and climb all over him.  And most importantly—chew on his looooong ears…

Here she is running like a little demon around the coffee table.  This behavior continued to occur every evening around 7pm when she would chase Billy Ray…

Here she is a little bit older standing on my writing desk.  I swear, she was like a billy goat.  She could climb up or on anything!

And here’s one of the last pictures that I took of her.  I made her wear her St. Patrick’s Day bandana.  C’mon…she was Irish!  And she did not like it at all…

It’s funny how heartbreaking it is to lose a pet.  But they become such an intricate part of your everyday life, and when they’re gone, they take a big chunk of your heart with them.  Abby certainly did that to me.

For today’s Saturday Photo Hunters day, I have yet another photo from London.  And I know that y’all are reeeeally getting bored of this London and Paris crap, but you’ll just have to suffer through it.  I really did try to find another photo for the theme—Fake-–but, I swear I could find nothing!  NOTHING!  Crazy theme, this one.

So, here’s a photo of George Clooney wooing me at Madame Tussauds in London.  And as much as I would love for George to wisk me away to his villa at Lake Como, this is as close as it’s going to get—me staring into the eyes of a glob of good-looking wax.  

That George.  He’s such a fake.

Hmm…wasn’t it just Saturday, like yesterday?  Sure seems like it.  Nonetheless, it’s Saturday Photo Hunters day!  Woo-hoo!  And there’s nothing sweeter than Saturdays.  Especially since today’s theme is Sweet.

When my aunt and I traveled to Paris in 2006, we spied this cute little carousel and sweet-treats stand just across the street from the Eiffel Tower…

So, after we made our way down from the top of the Eiffel Tower, we visited the Carrousel Gourmand where they sold sweets such as crepes, glacer la crème, and cotton candy…

And because we were in Paris and just couldn’t pass up the fun, we had some sweet, pink cotton candy…

And took a ride on the sweet carousel…

Definitely one of my fondest memories of Paris.  Sigh.

Wow, it’s been a little over a month since I’ve had time to do one of these.  So, to get back to my travel theme, here’s my Saturday photo…

This is the shiny armour of King Henry VIII from about 1515.  It is on display as part of the Royal Armouries at the Tower of London.  It’s pretty darn impressive if you ask me.  Imagine having to suit up in that piece of equipment.  Sucks to be a king, huh?

It’s finally Saturday, and I’m busy with my neighborhood garage sale.  And I decided not to throw everything on the lawn for the taking in a fit of unpreparedness as I had previously thought.  Instead, I was able to gather and price everything throughout the week in a fairly organized manner.  Because I am a coordinator, ya know?

Of course, GR was doing his best at trying to convince me to price everything in the house.  Including the curtains on the windows.  LET’S JUST SELL EVERYTHING, he said.  When we move to our double-wide in the neighboring county, we won’t need all this stuff.  Just a few packs of ciggies, some cheap beer, and the love between us.  Y’all, I have the most romantic husband in the world.

Anyhow, today is Saturday Photo Hunters Day, and the theme is Cooking.  Which I don’t do much of.  And when I do cook, it normally turns into something like this:

A concoction of worms and meat, you ask?  Oh no, it’s a meatloaf.  And if you would like to read the story about this meatloaf, click here.  Don’t worry.  I won’t hold it against you if you don’t.  This is pretty much a recycled post, but isn’t meatloaf better the next day?  Or in this case, the next month or so?  Give it a try it and let me know.

Finally, it’s Saturday Photo Hunters day!  Woo-hoo!  And this week’s theme is Childhood.  And because I posted an overabundance of my childhood photos in yesterday’s Friday Flashback post, I decided to post this picture of my son, Gus…

This is one of my most favorite photos of Gus.  I took this picture almost seven years ago at a beautiful place where we stay every year in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.  Gus was 11-years-old in the picture—right at the cusp of crossing the bridge between childhood and teenage angst!
